What is the PANTONE Color of the Year?  “A symbolic color selection; a color snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.”

This years top fashion color is called ‘GREENERY’.  This is how Pantone describes this color, where it came from and why it is an important feel good color to us.  “A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.”

A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.

Color of the Year?  So What . .

As the season progresses, designers and manufacturers across all verticals (fashion, interiors, paint, etc.) will be using these colors.  Last year the colors were Serenity & Rose Quartz which is very similar to this years Pale Dogwood or Hazelnut.

Pantone colors will appear in virtually everything – from fashion, to paint, to weddings and home decor.

This brooch seems to embody so many of the colors – would be a perfect addition to any ensemble to celebrate the Pantone colors of the year.

  7. The dress reminds me of what I wore in the 70’s…at least the many colours together do. I LOVE that Pantone chose Greenery as their 2017 colour of the year! I believe there is a great symbology to it, as we all need to become more conscious of the natural world around us and this colour represents that. And yes, green is the colour of new beginnings, the colour we see each year as we rebirth every spring! Thanks for the lovely post, Robin! I am a big colour person and will be curious to see how this colour shows up in all areas of fashion and more.

  8. Thank God for Pantone. I never can imagine identifying colors without them specifically for those in the fashion industry. Women have many ways to identify colors and for men, it can be a mystery.

  9. I did not know I was so fashion forward, but I just bought some amazing green eyeshadow yesterday during a break from my daughter’s basketball tournament. I can’t wait to wear it. They said I could also wear it as a lipstick….not sure I am that fashion forward. Maybe we will have some really cool clothes to wear for St Patrick’s Day this year too!

    • Pantone colors at work! Even if we don’t know the colors, they start proliferating, and we are drawn to them. I need to go green eye shadow shopping!
