Do we really want Tea Time?

Why do we need Tea Time?

teeeee

As we move about in our busy lives, do we take the time for tea?   And is it the tea we are taking time for, or the time to get away from other stuff.   Or do we need to “do tea time” as a way to connect with others.    Will you spend tea time scrolling through your phone?

Perhaps I am challenging myself and my friends to invest in some tea time!

Have a Vision

What does tea time look like?  In this day and age, tea time can be a formal affair or an informal get together with friends to chat.

Do you want to be high-class and luxurious? Do you want to have a more casual affair with close friends?  Whichever route you go, does the spoon you choose make a difference?  It can!  For a higher class look, go for the more ornate pieces of silverplate flatware.  To keep it casual but still unique, go with the more simple lines on the vintage pieces.  You can also mix up different styles for a more eclectic look.

Set your own style for tea time

If you are setting up a true tea time scene complete with doilies, table runners, and fancy hats, then plan your flatware accordingly.  Set up your fancy vintage teaspoons at each table setting or display them in a pretty jar next to your cute little teapot.   It will truly be a scene your guests will ooh and ahh over.

And this can help set the stage for some quality tea time.   Stir and sip and chat, and return to a place of connecting with others.

Final Thoughts

There really are no rules anymore when it comes to scheduling your tea time. Whether your event is large or small, modern or vintage, tea time is what you make of it.

Remember, tea time is not about the tea; is is about the time we take and the memories we create!

Who wants to join me for some tea time?   And if you do, leave your phone at the door!

  1. Have to love a cup of tea in a lovely china cup!

  2. When I lived in England, afternoon tea was part of our daily ritual. As was a cup of tea after our dinner, unless we were heading to the pub. It’s a tradition that I miss a great deal being back in the states. It was such a great opportunity to connect, unwind and just enjoy oneself and our friends. Now, my tea ritual is more of a “me time” event. When the weather is pleasant, I like to sit outside in my back yard in the mornings to just enjoy some peace and quiet before getting started on my day.

    • Thanks for sharing about your time in England. It seems we could learn something from tea time, and slow down and connect. Your “me time” sounds lovely.

  3. Filipinos love snack time. We can eat 5 times a day (snacks in between meals). It is the same concept as tea time. I think the Americans do not really do this practice as people seems to be in a rat race. They have to finish multitude of things to pay the bills. The priority is not much about enjoying life and building close relationship. Imagine what the French wants to implement – no work Fridays. I think they really appreciate life with more days off and longer eating time.

    • Thanks for sharing about the Filipino culture. I think the rat race is real, but less so in the smaller towns. I have lived in a big east coast city, and a smaller middle-america town, and have experienced a difference.

  4. That teal is gorgeous!
I don’t make time for tea, it’s coffee here.
Tea only in the morning first thing and then the evening.

  5. Love it. As soon as I read, Do We Really Want Tea Time, my thought was YES! It represents taking time out for others and for creating beautiful food and space. I just might need to think about when I can host a tea. Can’t wait to make some scones, etc. Thanks for the fun post. Just what I needed today. 🙂

  6. I don’t drink tea… but like coffee… it’s a time to bond together with others and enjoy life together.

  7. Tea time sounds like so much fun! I can already imagine the finger food treats and the sparkling conversation..plus the flatware of course! Thanks for the great idea

    • You are most welcome, and thanks for stopping by. And, I do think we all can benefit from a little tea time:) (starting with me).

  8. I am not much of a tea drinker; however, I like the idea of taking a little time out to share a cup over conversation.

  9. I am not much of a tea drinker; however, I like the idea of taking a little time out to share a cup over conversation. I love the teal vignette!

    • I don’t think it matters if it is tea or not – I just think we all need to take time to connect. And, I love the teal as well – was fun to make:)

  10. my ‘tea time’ is firt thing in the morning. Having a cup of tea on the balcony, overlooking our favourite island of Kefalonia. It helps me to start my working day on the right foot. Relax, wake up and plan the day ahead.

  11. I love TEAL and I LOVE TEA! Thanks so much for another uplifting and fun post.
