Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is breast cancer awareness month, and the world goes pink in support.    This is a worldwide annual campaign involving thousands of organizations, to highlight the importance of breast awareness, education and research.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the desire is to get as many people as possible involved in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research.   Breast cancer affects millions of women each year, and chances are it has touched your life in some way.  Whether you have a loved one who has battled the disease or you yourself are a survivor, you know that hope, love and support are always needed.

Let’s make this month a time to not only raise awareness and funds, but to celebrate the inner strength, beauty and courage that the pink ribbon embodies.

Pink Represents..

Pink is a color that generally represents love and femininity.   But since the color is part red and part white, it actually means much more according to color psychologists (yes, there is such a thing!).   Red is a powerful color, thus bringing power to the pink.   Pink is also calming and nurturing, making it the perfect color to represent breast cancer awareness.

Accessorize with Pink

Pink is more than a color, it’s a statement…a bold statement not only of fashion but a statement that brings unity to women supporting women; a color that stands for survivorship and a color that evokes happiness

You, too, can show your support by incorporating some powerfully pink accessories through the month.

Show Your Power

If you are showing support for the cause or if you are a survivor yourself, pink is powerful.  Incorporating some reds and pinks in your accessories is always a great idea, but especially in the month of October.  Show everyone that you support the cause with your choice of pink!

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is a great website full of resources, and is one not to miss.

How are you showing your support for breast cancer awareness this month?  Please share in the comments!
